The Muscular System
This is a system that maintains postuer, allows the body to move and helps circulate blood throughout the body. This system is made up of three types of muscles, smooth, cardiac, and skelatal muscle.
A muscle is "a tissue that contracts to produce movment or tension" (The Concise Encylopedia of the Human Body, pg.48). These tissues are made up of myofibers (muscle fibers)

Muscular dystrophy is a noninfectious

In 1937, Albert von Szent Gyorgi was a Hungarian- American biochemist was awarded the Noble Peace Prize for reaserching the way muscles contract and buliding a better understanding of muscles

Smooth Muscle
Smooth muscle, also knowen as involentary muscle, is found in the wall of hollow organs such as the Stomach or intstine. It is called an involentary muscle because a percon canot decide weather or not to make it contract. These muscles are controlled by the automatic nervous system
Cardiac Muscle
Myocardium (cardiac muscle) is in the heart. This muscule contracts 100,000 times a day and never gets tiered.
Skeletal Muscles
Skeletal muscles are volentary muscles (muscles you can control consciouncly) that are attached to bones. The muscular system is made up of 600 skeletal muscles.
